Summer Recap

It's been one full year since we opened our doors. Thank you to those who stepped through the shop, attended our events, put a sticker on your car, rep'd a T or supported Townskate in any way possible. Without you, our community, we would not still be here.

April saw a series of lessons hosted with the Powell River Recreation Complex. We held skateboarding lessons that went right into June and September. We skated the the ice rink, mastered the tick tack and got some kids stoked to continue their journey on four wheels.

May saw our first annual Townskate Jam, a fun and inclusive all abilities skateboard contest with kids of all ages. We had Locals, Lower Mainlanders, Vancouver Islanders, and a punk rock DJ come together in support of skateboarding. Thanks to everyone who attended. Shoutout to all the judges and volunteers who took the time to help out, and to all the participants who skated.

In June we held "Toy City", a graffiti art show displaying some canvas work, skateboard art and street art photography. We still have artwork on display including a mural on plywood right outside the shop.

Our event marathon ended with the Texada Skimboard Jam where we hosted 2 days of skimboard lessons, sunburns and sand rash.

We're going to keep rolling with events, so keep up to date on the latest going ons by following our facebook page and instagram.
